First Friday at Edge Optics was an evening filled with art, conversation, and community connection. Visitors stopped by throughout the night to explore original artwork, meet the artist, and discover the stories behind a wide variety of paintings, prints, and creative projects.
From pet portraits and whimsical animal paintings to landscapes and floral-inspired works, the exhibit offered something for every art lover. More importantly, the evening created opportunities for meaningful conversations about creativity, inspiration, and the local arts community.
A Space Filled with Art
The Edge Optics showroom was transformed into a vibrant gallery space featuring original paintings, calendars, greeting cards, magnets, and information about upcoming painting experiences. Visitors could browse a diverse collection of artwork displayed throughout the venue while learning more about the creative process behind each piece.
The display showcased a variety of themes, including beloved pets, wildlife, floral arrangements, coastal scenes, and decorative pieces that highlighted both technical skill and personal storytelling.
A Night of Art and Connection
One of the highlights of the event was the opportunity for visitors to meet the artist behind the collection. Guests spent time discussing artistic techniques, inspiration, and the stories behind several featured pieces. These personal conversations added a unique dimension to the experience, allowing attendees to connect with the artwork on a deeper level.
Sharing the Story Behind the Art
Engaging Conversations and Meaningful Connections
One of the most rewarding aspects of exhibiting at First Friday was the opportunity to connect with visitors one-on-one.
Art became a bridge for connection as community members discovered shared interests, exchanged ideas, and learned more about the stories behind the paintings.
Community Engagement in Action
Showcasing Local Talent
The exhibit featured a wide variety of original artwork, including:

Featured Collection Highlights

Visitors were especially drawn to the warmth and personality captured within the animal portraits. Many pieces sparked conversations about personal pets and cherished memories.
August Classes

The vibrant lemon collection added a cheerful summer atmosphere to the exhibit while promoting an upcoming Lemon Grove Paint Night experience.

Keepers Of The Mist offered visitors a glimpse into another side of the artist's work, combining movement, light, and color in scenic seaside compositions.
Behind the Scenes
First Friday is about far more than displaying artwork. It's about bringing people together and documenting those creative experiences.
Throughout the evening, photos captured visitors browsing artwork, exchanging ideas, and supporting local creativity. These moments help preserve the energy and excitement that made the event so memorable.
Art Creates Community
One of the most meaningful aspects of First Friday was seeing how art encouraged connection.
Whether visitors were longtime supporters or attending for the first time, everyone contributed to the welcoming atmosphere that filled the space throughout the evening.
Art has a unique ability to bring people together, and First Friday at Edge Optics once again demonstrated the power of creativity to build community.
Keep Creating With Me This August
One of the most common questions I heard throughout First Friday was:
"When is your next class?"
I'm excited to share that I'll be hosting several painting classes throughout August, and all classes are free to attend.
My goal is to make art accessible to everyone and create a welcoming space where people can explore their creativity, regardless of experience level. Whether you've never picked up a paintbrush before or you're looking to reconnect with your artistic side, these classes are designed to be fun, relaxed, and encouraging for artists of all skill levels.
What Participants Are Saying
Nothing makes me happier than seeing people discover their creativity and leave class feeling inspired.
"This was a super fun ladies night! Even those you didn't know ahead of the event, were your friends by the end of the evening. Jill was so patient and detailed in her instructions...I really appreciated that since I am no artist! Great time!"
This testimonial perfectly captures what these classes are all about: community, creativity, and confidence-building.
Why Are the Classes Free?
I believe creativity should be available to everyone. The August classes are offered free of charge so that cost is never a barrier to artistic expression and community connection.
However, providing free classes comes with expenses for supplies, canvases, paints, brushes, and materials.
If you've enjoyed my artwork, attended an event, participated in a class, or simply believe in the value of community art programs, please consider making a donation.
Your support helps fund:

No donation is too small. Every contribution helps ensure these classes remain available and accessible to our community.
