Second Sunday at The Lyric with Petrichor: A Community Canvas, Creative Joy, and Scratch Off Surprises

Some days feel like they’re stitched together with color, conversation, and a little bit of luck. Second Sunday at The Lyric, in collaboration with Petrichor Collective, was one of those days — a warm, creative gathering where art, community, and playfulness blended into something unforgettable.

From the moment the tents opened,

space buzzed with energy. Vendors set up their displays, families wandered in with iced drinks, and the community canvas waited patiently for its first brushstroke.

A Canvas Painted by the Community

The heart of the event was a true community canvas — a large, taped‑off design created for anyone to add their own small piece of color. Visitors, vendors, kids, and curious passersby all stopped to paint a section.

Some added bold shapes. Others filled tiny corners with careful detail. Kids painted with fearless joy. Adults rediscovered the simple pleasure of holding a brush. Every mark added a story, and by the end of the day, the canvas had become a vibrant mosaic of everyone who touched it.

Scratch‑Off Tickets: A Little Luck, A Lot of Smiles

One of the most joyful parts of the day came from the scratch‑off tickets — a playful way to surprise visitors and thank them for being part of the event.

People scratched their cards right at the booth, laughing, cheering, and comparing prizes. And yes — people really won.

Prizes included:

  • Free painting classes

  • 2026 calendars

  • Art prints

  • Magnets featuring original artwork

The best part was watching someone scratch their ticket, pause, squint, and then light up when they realized they’d won something special. It added a spark of playfulness to the whole afternoon.

Art, Connection, and Community

The Paintings By JF booth stayed lively all day. People stopped to admire the whimsical guinea pigs, rabbits, and colorful scenes. They asked about upcoming classes, scanned QR codes, and shared stories about their pets, their favorite colors, or the last time they picked up a paintbrush.

It wasn’t just an art booth — it was a place where conversations sparked and connections formed.

The Canvas Continues

As the afternoon wound down and the last visitors drifted between booths, our community canvas stood there — colorful, growing, and still very much in progress. It’s waiting for more hands, more stories, more moments of connection. And it will keep evolving at future events, one brushstroke at a time. If you’d like to be part of its next chapter, explore the event calendar or wander through more behind‑the‑scenes moments in the blog archive.
