An Evening at Wagz Elevated Market & Groom: Art, Community, and the Sweetest Conversations

On Friday, June 5, I joined the First Friday Art Walk at Wagz, bringing my little world of color into a space usually filled with wagging tails, treats, and cheerful regulars. From the moment I set up, the shop felt alive with conversation, curiosity, and the steady rhythm of people exploring both art and pet goodies.

My table held pieces from across my collection — landscapes, guinea‑pig whimsy, patriotic minis, and prints from my Pets of Old Town series. The large landscape on the easel drew people in, but the tiny easel pieces kept them lingering, turning each one over and discovering the details.

Conversations That Make the Day

One of the best parts of the Art Walk is the way people slow down and talk. At Wagz, I met visitors who wanted to know the stories behind the pieces, how long I’ve been painting, and what inspires the colors I choose. Some shared memories of their own pets or places they’ve loved — the kind of small, meaningful exchanges that make these events feel personal.

Art has a way of opening doors like that. Suddenly we’re not strangers in a shop — we’re people connecting over color, memory, and shared experience.

Little Easels, Big Joy

The mini easels were a crowd favorite. There’s something about tiny art that feels like finding a treasure. I watched people pick them up one by one, smiling, pointing out their favorites, imagining where they’d place them at home. These small pieces often carry the biggest personality, and seeing that joy firsthand is one of my favorite parts of showing in person.

Community in Every Corner

Wagz is the kind of place where community naturally gathers. Between the dog‑of‑the‑month wall, the shelves of treats and gear, and the steady flow of locals popping in, it was the perfect backdrop for a First Friday event. I loved chatting with people who weren’t expecting to find an artist there — the surprise made the interactions even sweeter.

Some came for dog treats and left with a print. Some came for art and left with a new favorite pet shop. That’s the beauty of blending spaces: everyone discovers something new.

Gratitude for a Colorful Day

Friday’s Art Walk reminded me why I love sharing my work in person. It’s not just about selling art — it’s about the conversations, the laughter, the shared stories, and the way a painting can brighten someone’s day.

Thank you, Wagz, for hosting me. Thank you to everyone who stopped by, browsed, chatted, or simply smiled as they passed. You made the day feel full and bright.

Here’s to more First Fridays, more community, and more color.
