One Glass, One Slate: A Night of Wine, Color, and Community

There’s a special kind of magic that happens when people gather around a table with paint on their palettes and wine in their glasses. It’s the kind of magic that hums quietly at first — a brushstroke here, a laugh there — and then suddenly fills the whole room with warmth. Our One Glass, One Slate event at Wagonhound Wine Co. was exactly that kind of night.

From the moment guests slipped on their red aprons and settled in, the room buzzed with that unmistakable blend of creativity and connection. Slate boards waited at each seat, sketched with the soft outlines of wine bottles and glasses, ready to come alive with color.

As brushes dipped into deep reds and rich greens, conversations flowed as easily as the wine. Some guests painted boldly, others more thoughtfully, but every canvas began to take on its own personality. That’s one of my favorite parts of teaching — watching the same subject transform into a dozen unique interpretations.

The long table became a shared workspace of color and camaraderie. Paper plates turned into palettes, paint tubes rolled between hands, and the occasional “Oops!” was met with laughter and reassurance.

No experience needed — just a willingness to play. And because I love adding a little extra joy to the night, every guest received a scratch ticket — and every single one was a winner. Some uncovered discounts for future classes, others won signed prints, a few snagged magnets, and one lucky artist even won a 2026/2027 calendar. The room lit up with laughter as people scratched, compared prizes, and celebrated their tiny victories.

Between brushstrokes, guests reached for grapes, cheese, and sips of wine. The table looked like a joyful still life of its own: palettes, snacks, glasses, and half‑finished masterpieces scattered like confetti.

The Wagonhound atmosphere wrapped around us like a warm hug — soft lighting, good wine, and the gentle hum of people creating something together. It’s the perfect backdrop for a night of art. Even those who arrived saying, “I’m not artistic,” found themselves smiling at their progress. That’s the heart of these events: discovering that creativity isn’t about perfection — it’s about presence. Every table was its own little world of color. Guests mixed paints, shared tips, swapped stories, and occasionally paused to admire each other’s work. The room felt like a celebration of both art and community.

This event was extra special because it marked the premiere of One Glass, One Slate, and the response was overwhelming seats filled quickly, and the excitement leading up to the night was palpable. With that kind of energy, it’s no surprise the next one will be announced soon. And if this event was any indication, seats will go fast, so when the announcement drops, you’ll want to be ready.

And then came the grand finale: a group photo filled with proud smiles and beautifully painted slates. Thirteen artists, thirteen interpretations, one unforgettable night.

This is why I love what I do — art brings people together in the most genuine, joyful way. Thank you to everyone who joined me for this evening of creativity, laughter, and wine. I can’t wait to paint with you again.

If you’ve been thinking about joining a future event, consider this your sign. Seats are limited, supplies are curated, and every event is designed to feel personal, warm, and unforgettable.
