Starry Nights, Small Flags & Even Smaller Friends: A Two‑Part Painting Journey

There’s a special rhythm to a painting night—one that unfolds slowly, layer by layer, like a story being told in color. This week’s class carried that rhythm beautifully as we painted in two intentional parts, each one building toward a final piece full of personality, patriotism, and tiny whiskered charm.

🌙 Part One: Starry Night Skies & Groundwork

We began with the sky—always the sky. Deep blues, swirling strokes, bright yellows blooming into stars.

As Van Gogh once said: “I often think that the night is more alive and more richly colored than the day.”

Below the sky, we blocked in the ground—soft greens, dark greens, textured strokes that would later hold something special.

Part Two: The Flag & the Heart of the Painting

When the skies were dry and the ground was set, we shifted into the second part: the American flag.

Bold stripes. Bright blues. A symbol that brought structure and contrast to the swirling night above.

And then came the moment everyone had been waiting for— painting their own guinea pig.

Each person brought their little friend to life in paint:

  • Fluffy friends

  • Smooth‑coated sweethearts

  • Shy personalities

  • Bold explorers

All adorable.

A Room Full of Stories

By the end of the night, the tables were covered in palettes of color, paper plates dotted with blues and reds, and canvases that told stories of pride, creativity, and companionship.

Everyone stood together—red aprons, bright smiles, and guinea pigs held proudly in front of swirling skies.
